Here's the plan...
Okay, so here's the deal, many of you (especially those who have been brought here from Facebook) are aware of my other blog; you know the ill health/ tumour one. This blog is NOT like that one. This is an attempt to get back into the kind of writing I love- the creative fun kind.
At the age of 34, I can not remember a time I did not enjoy to write, I love words and language and their ability to create scenes snd images that move, excite and interest people. I am fascinated by the process, and the powerful feeling that comes from grabbing someone's attention whilst they read words you have written.
However, here's the thing, like a lot of unpublished writers, I am not always confident in my work, and am over-critical to the point of obsessiveness. I am also out of practise. Over this last year, I have been battling exhaustion, so concentrating on carrying on with longer pieces I began writing has not happened. I decided I needed to take a different approach to getting back into writing for me, and to see what I can produce.
A couple of years ago I bought a "Creative Writing for Dummies" book ( we all know the series..) as a way of developing your writing it's a good tool, as well as good advice, it also has lots of exercises to tap into different styles of writing and to get the ideas flowing..
My intention is to completely open my self up to criticism(and possibly ridicule!). I am going to work through some of theses exercises on this blog, as well as include random little mutterings I have formed by myself! I will invite, you, my audience to criticise and pass comment, please make it constructive, if you genuinely (no crawling please!) like something, tell me why! Likewise, if you think something is complete rubbish, think of ways it could be improved, I am open to any suggestions to help me on my way to becoming a better writer.
For each blog entry, I will start by outlining the exercise (if one is used) and then follow with my piece of writing, then you can comment either on facebook, or directly on the blog (you have to "follow" me to do this). I will try (depending on energy) to put something on here every few weeks, so keep an eye out. Oh and I apologise in advance for any typing errors. As some of you will know, my left hand does not always work as it should, so the combination of one handed typing, poor concentration and dodgy eyesight can lead to some stupid mistakes.
Anyway, that's an outline of the idea, will get back to you when I have something creative to say!
